A Poem on the Website ofthe Red Dirt Writers Society
Depression Children by Larry Foreman (Sep 2009)
Sister, Brother Go two-by-two From door to door With note in hand - The unknown words Are not for them. They knock on doors And show the note. Then wait to see A silent smile Say, “Wait here, please, I’ll share with you.” Perhaps an orange, Apple, or pear, A nickel or Shiny penny - Before they go A “thank you, Ma’am.” With sack of fruit And coins in hands, They walk the streets Back home to Mom. Tired but happy, They’ll sleep all night.
